Welcome back to our blog. Today we would like to introcuce you to the concept of mindfulness. Mindfulness is an ancient technique that is designed to centre you in the moment physically, emotionally and cognitively. Mindfulness creates a conscious awareness of your experience in the here and now. Practising minfulness helps us to respond in a considered manner to our experience rather than automatically reacting in habitual ways that are not always appropriate or positive. Below is a brief exercise for you to practise. We would love to hear your feedback on this technique. Remember there is no right or wrong in mindfulness, the purpose is to observe and greet your experience with acceptance. Learning to focus the mind takes time and practise.

Mindfulness Breathing

Allow yourself a moment to focus on your breath. Place your hands on your stomach and try to bring the breath down to your abdomen. With each in-breath count in two three and with each out-breath count out two three. Watch the rise and fall of your breath and continue the exercise for two minutes. When your mind wanders notice it and bring the focus back to the breath. Enjoy the moment.

For those expectant mothers amongst you, you can learn more about mindfulness in our motherhood workshops. Our next set of three workshops commences on Thursday 28th October. For more information please contact Rachel at upperton@masteryourmind.com.au or Jill at jillsl@tpg.com.au

Hi Everyone, Welcome to the first Blog for Master Your Mind! We hope to have interesting bits of information for you about mindfulness, motherhood, and mental health on a regular basis and welcome all comments and questions.

This week we would like to introduce three brand new workshops, designed for first time mothers-to -be and their partners. Parenthood brings dramatic adjustments and transitions to the individual and the relationship like no other time in life. Some of these changes are wonderful and joyous, others are exhausting and can be overwhelming. Preparing yourself for these physical, emotional and hormonal changes prior to the birth of your baby can lessen the risk of Post-partum depression and relationship breakdowns. This preparation can also increase the likelihood of having a positive parenting experience. The three workshops are specifically designed to leave participants feeling empowered and positive with practical tools to implement following childbirth.

For more information on these workshops please contact Dr Rachel Upperton – upperton@masteryourmind.com.au

We will also be posting more information in the near future.

Until then have wishing you all a week full of resilience!!
